Flyers and leaflets are often used to mean the same thing, but there is a small difference. A flyer is usually a single-sheet handout used for quick promotions, events, offers or announcements. A leaflet can also be a single sheet, but it is often used for more detailed information and may be folded into panels. If you need a simple, punchy message, choose flyers. If you need more space for menus, services, price lists or product information, folded leaflets may be the better option.

The best size depends on how much information you need to include and how the item will be distributed. A6 flyers are compact and great for handouts, inserts and quick promotions. A5 flyers are one of the most popular choices because they give you more space while still being easy to hand out. A4 flyers work well when you need more room for menus, service lists or detailed information. DL flyers are slim, professional and ideal for price lists, takeaway menus, mailers and event promotions. For the best print result, supply your artwork as a high-quality print-ready file, ideally with3mm bleed, safe margins for important text and logos, and images set up at high resolution. Bleed is the extra artwork area that extends beyond the final trim edge, helping prevent unwanted white edges after cutting. Keep key information away from the edge so it does not get trimmed. Many flyers and leaflets can be zero-rated for VAT in the UK, but VAT depends on the exact printed item, its purpose, paper weight, size and whether it is designed to be written on or kept as something more permanent. HMRC guidance covers zero-rating for printed matter such as leaflets, pamphlets and brochures, but there are exceptions.
